The CIFA Trust was established in 2006 following a request from a small charity in Kenya – CIFA Kenya – which was itself registered as an NGO in the year 2000, following a successful 12 year Farm Africa programme supporting nomadic pastoralists in Northern Kenya.

Also part of the CIFA family is CIFA Ethiopia, registered as an NGO in Ethiopia in 2005, which carries out work along the southern border with Kenya, helping strengthen the livelihoods of nomadic pastoralists.

Most recently, from 2015, The CIFA Trust begun partnering with the Malawian-registered NGO Ungweru to implement a project in northern Malawi, reducing hunger and malnutrition and strengthening rural livelihoods.

Something that makes The CIFA Trust different to most charities is that we do not ourselves have any overheads either in the UK or overseas. We are run entirely by a group of dedicated international development and charity professionals, which means all public donations received can be directed to where they are needed most.
