Project Achievements So Far

CIF Kenya and Ethiopia's achievements during the period 2001 - 2005 include:

Water and Environment

• Constructed / de-silted 47 water pans
• Protected 120 shallow wells
• Supported the development of 2 springs
• Re-habilitated 9 boreholes and installed 3 generators
• Constructed and rehabilitated 8 masonary water tanks
• Constructed 740 metres of furrow
• Trained 11 water user associations

Livestock

• Supported training and refresher course for 133 Community Animal Health Workers (CAHWs)
• These treated over 90,000 livestock
• Facilitated 4 workshops on policy for recognition of CAWH's
• 10 meetings of cross border marketing associations
• Constructed 4 surface dams along livestock marketing routes
• Help set-up 5 mini-dairies
• Installed 4 HF radio frequencies to support livestock marketing routes
